Privacy policy - Last updated 2026-08-31

Quire cannot send your writing anywhere.

This is not a promise about what the app chooses to do. Quire does not declare Android's INTERNET permission, so the app is incapable of making a network call at all.

What data is collected

None.

Quire collects no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers, no account data, no location, no contacts, and no payment information. There is no account to create and no server to create it on.

What data is shared

None. There are no third parties, and no data to give them.

What leaves your device

Nothing. Not automatically, and not on request - there is no export step, because there is nothing to export from. Your journal is already a folder of ordinary Markdown files on your own device, and it is yours to copy, sync, or move by whatever means you already use.

Where your writing is kept

In the folder you chose when you first opened the app, as one Markdown file per day. Quire reaches that folder through Android's Storage Access Framework: you pick the folder in the system's own picker, and the app is granted access to that folder and nothing else.

Quire never requests broad storage permissions, and it cannot list, read, or write anywhere outside the folder you picked. You can revoke the grant at any time in Android Settings, under Apps, without uninstalling. Nothing in the folder is affected when you do.

What the app stores outside that folder

On your device only, and removed entirely when you uninstall:

None of this is transmitted. It cannot be - see the first paragraph.

Permissions

Quire requests no runtime permissions. The installed package declares only a permission Android itself defines for a component to receive its own broadcasts. Anyone can verify this on the APK without trusting this page:

aapt2 dump badging quire.apk | grep permission

Children

Quire is not directed at children, but it collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. A change that weakened any of the above would require adding a network permission to the app, which would be visible in the app's permission list before you installed the update.
